IBRA: Ibra Referral Hospital on Sunday launched a surgical endoscopy system — a device for urological and paediatric surgery, with support from Oman LNG. The project cost RO 249,635.

The launch of the system stems from efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Health to improve its services to citizens and residents and to introduce modern technologies that contribute to the realisation of high-quality healthcare.

Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Jabri, Director of Ibra Referral Hospital, Senior Consultant in Accident and Emergency Medicine, said that the launch of the system aims to raise the efficiency of diagnosis and ameliorate treatment services rendered to citizens and residents.

The system also offers an opportunity to localise advanced surgical services at the hospital, in addition to enhancing cooperation with private sector institutions.

Dr Ahmed explained that the surgical endoscopy unit for urology and paediatric surgery would provide its services using advanced methods. The services of the new device would benefit the governorates of Al Sharqiyah North, Al Sharqiyah South and Al Wusta, he added.

Dr Ahmed affirmed that the device would help diminish the number of treatment sessions required, enhance patient comfort, ease pain, minimise transfers to secondary care hospitals and spare patients the hassle of travelling for treatment. - ONA
